The launching meeting, held at the University of Cairo, aimed at presenting the project to different stakeholders including the Egyptian and European Universities involved, ACS and other Institutional Bodies.

During the first Steering Committee Meeting, the Steering Committee (SC) was established and the Memorandum of Understanding agreed and signed by all partners. The project activities and tasks were presented including the responsability of each partner and the ouputs to be produced. Participants were provided with an operative work plan reporting the major and interim milestones and the  associated target dates in support to the achievement of the milestones. Financial issues and administrative rules where explained in details. 

The Egyptian Universities involved in the project were visited by the Italian Coordinator (University of Sassari) and UNIMED on 25th - 28th July 2016. Professors, students and the administrative staff of the local HEIs besides managers of different Egyptian enterprises were involved in the meetings. The aim of the visit was to evaluate and discuss the preliminary results of the needs assessment while collecting other relevant information thus allowing a better understanding of the involved Universities’ needs, strengths and weaknesses.

The scientific group met to discuss extensively the Master curriculum including modules and courses. Valuable contributions were provided by all participants. Master location and accreditation procedures were discussed as well.

Aim of the meeting was the finalization of the Master structure on SLM in terms of courses and number of credits and the choice of the location. Experiences of similar masters on SLM around the world were reported to find further courses to be included in the proposal and the accreditation procedures were presented to participants.
The workshop highlighted strategies and methodologies aiming at improving teaching and learning processes. It was an exchange of experiences and best practices where traditional learning methodologies and innovative ones were compared. As a result, a guideline on best practices in teaching will be shared among partners. The best practices will be then used by European teachers within the 10 digital technical modules that will be uploaded on the e-learning platform. The modules provided Egyptian teachers with the necessary knowledge to allow them to teach the same topic in the new Pilot Master program. In addition, the information provided in each module will be used by ACS’s technicians for the creation of the educational game whose content and logical frameworks will be provided by teachers.

The discussion of the scientific meeting focused mainly on the Master location and bylaw to be submitted for the Master accreditation. All partners agreed on implementing the Master in two locations rather than one, namely Alexandria University and Cairo University. 

Aim of the Second Steering Committee was to provide inputs to the successful development of the project activities, including the evaluation strategy by identifying the priorities and potential risks. 
The following items have been discussed: Interuniversity Master accreditation process and implementation; students' recruitment, project budget and its amendment. 
The meeting was held at the headquarter of the Mediterranean Universities Union (UNIMED) in Rome.
